eLogii integrates with Twilio for SMS notifications. For the integration to work and for the two platforms to be able to communicate, you need to have a Twilio account and connect it to your eLogii workspace.

There are a few steps you need to follow:

eLogii does not charge you an additional fee for using Twilio's services. All Twilio-related invoices and costs are handled through their platform and will be per their pricing. Please note that SMS prices may fluctuate, depending on your country.

Creating and setting up a Twilio account

The first step is to create a Twilio account.
If you already have a Twilio account, feel free to skip this step and proceed to the next one.

Go to Twilio's home page and create an account by clicking on "Start for free".

You will be redirected to another page where you need to input your details and create a password. Once you've populated all these fields click on "Start free trial".

You will receive a verification email from Twilio and to proceed further you will need to check your inbox and Confirm your email.

A new window will open once you click on "Confirm your email" and you will be taken to this page. Here you will need to select your region and add your phone number. Once you do that click "Verify" and you will get a verification SMS code from Twilio which you need to input to confirm your phone number.

After confirming your phone number you will be taken to another page where you will be asked to select what you would like to use Twilio for. If this is your first time creating a Twilio account, or if you are not a developer, we would recommend choosing the "With no code at all" option, though this is entirely up to you.

Once you've completed all these steps, you will be redirected to your account home screen.

Upgrading Twilio

Once you set up your Twilio account, you need to upgrade your account to be able to send messages to your customers. Navigate to the Upgrade button located at the top part of the screen to do this.

After upgrading, add Address information (which Twilio will use for taxation purposes) and the amount you would like to be charged. You can choose to pay anywhere between $20 and $2,000, and you can set an automatic top-up once your balance reaches 0.

Lastly, choose your preferred payment method and confirm your purchase.

You can view Twilio's pricing for SMS here, and for more information on how their pricing works, please refer to this article.

Setting up a Twilio number

Even before you upgrade your account, Twilio will provide you with a free phone number for trialing purposes, however that number cannot be used commercially, hence why it is required to purchase a number from Twilio. The process is identical for all countries, with the exception of Australia.

To purchase a number, navigate to Phone Numbers ⇒ Manage ⇒ Buy a number.

You can pick any of the numbers provided and select a country you wish the number to be from. Please keep in mind that prices may vary, depending on the selected country.

Before purchasing the number, it is imperative that the number has the SMS sending option included.. To check this, make sure that the number includes the SMS icon as in the example below.

After you buy a number, make sure that it's active, and to check that just switch to Phone Numbers ⇒ Manage ⇒ Active numbers.

Purchasing a number for Australia

In case you're from Australia, the process requires an additional step, which would be obtaining a Bundle from Twilio. To access Bundles, navigate to Phone Numbers ⇒ Regulatory Compliance ⇒ Bundles.

From there, you want to click on Create a Regulatory Bundle.

Twilio will ask you to fill in company-related information. Make sure to select Mobile under the Type of Phone Number.

Additionally, Twilio will ask you to provide them with a supporting document to verify your company. This document may be any of the listed in the screenshot.

Once you've entered all the necessary information and submitted it, it will take Twilio a couple of days to process everything and approve your bundle. After this, you will be able to purchase the number regularly and attach the number to the approved Bundle.

Getting your API key

To get your Twilio API key navigate to the Account section located in the top right corner of your screen and under Keys & Credentials find API keys & tokens.

If you plan on using Twilio exclusively for eLogii, it is sufficient to use the SID and Auth Token listed in the Live Credentials.

If you already use Twilio for something else, you will need to Create a new API Key for eLogii. To do this, click the "Create API key" button, or click on the plus (+) icon if you have other API Keys already.

The next step is to enter a friendly name for your API Key and select the key type -Standard or Main. Once you've done this, just click the "Create" button.

Once you create an API key, you will be presented with the key and a secret. The secret is essentially the key’s password, similar to how your account’s Auth Token serves as the password for your Account SID. Make sure to save this secret and store it somewhere secure, since it is only shown once and can’t be viewed again later.

Once you've completed everything click Done.

Connecting Twilio and eLogii

To connect your Twilio account to eLogii, please navigate to Configuration ⇒ Integrations. Under the Twilio Section you will be able to populate the following information:

  • Account SID

  • Authentication Token

  • The Twilio Phone number you purchased

If you're still unsure how to configure Twilio, or the integration is not working, feel free to get in touch with our Support team at support@elogii.com.
