This feature allows you to let your Drivers assign Unassigned Tasks to themselves by scanning the barcode associated with the Task. Once the barcode has been scanned, the Task will automatically be delegated to that Driver and added to their route.
To achieve this, you would need to have the following three options enabled in Configuration ⇒ Driver App:
Allow Drivers to Search for Tasks
Assign Tasks to themselves
Automatically assign on scan
Drivers will have the option to look for Tasks within the Driver app. Once they select that option, they will just need to press the Scan Barcode button. Their phone will switch to the barcode scanner, and when they successfully scan the barcode, the Task will be automatically assigned to them and added to their route.
In practice, it should look like this:
Depending on the options you have available on your payment plan, you can also allow your Drivers to re-optimize the route once they’ve self-assigned the Task. (in that case, you need to enable the Allow route re-optimization in Configuration ⇒ Driver app), or you can let them rearrange their route and place the self-assigned Task wherever they want on their Route (for this, you would need to enable the Allow Driver to reorder route option in Configuration ⇒ Driver app)
