Setting up Barcodes

Before scanning barcodes, you first need to feed that information into eLogii, and you can do it by populating the Product code/ Barcode field for each Task, if you're creating it manually.

Alternatively, if you're importing Tasks via CSV file, populate the productCode field with the appropriate barcode.

Once populated, the code you input here will appear on the printed label for each specified Task.

Codes used for generating barcodes are not auto-generated by eLogii, which means that you would need to provide the system with your own codes. Barcodes are not required to have unique values and identical codes can be re-used.

Displaying Barcodes

In addition, if you enable your customers to download Proof of Delivery in PDF, if you enable Show barcode on Proof of delivery (found in Configuration ⇒ Dashboard settings ⇒ POD PDF), the barcode will be displayed in the document as well.

Finding Tasks via Barcode scan

If a barcode was added to a Task, it can be found with it in the Tasks ⇒ Advanced Filters ⇒ Barcode Scanning.

Once scanned, select Apply Filter, and all tasks with that barcode will be shown.

Here is the list of barcode types the current eLogii Driver App recognizes:

  • QR_CODE

  • DATA_MATRIX

  • UPC_A

  • UPC_E

  • EAN_8

  • EAN_13

  • CODE_39

  • CODE_93

  • CODE_128

  • ITF

  • PDF_417

  • AZTEC

Checking barcode scans in PODs

Once captured, the Barcode scan is stored in eLogii, and like all other PODs, they can be viewed in Task history.

Please keep in mind that in case you don't have a set up barcode for your Tasks, if you decide to print labels generated by eLogii, the barcode will not be shown on the label, as it has not been specified, however if you decide to enable barcodes for PDF POD, the barcode will be displayed for Tasks that don't have a pre-defined barcodes, however the code will take the Task's UID.

Supported barcode types

If you plan on using eLogii's labels, you can choose any of the listed barcode types to generate on the label. Head over to Configuration⇒ Dashboard settings ⇒ Task labels and set the barcode type to any of the available ones. We support Code 128, Code 39, and QR code for label creation.

Barcode scan options

eLogii offers a lot of Barcode scan flexibility. All the available options can be seen in Configuration ⇒ Driver App.

For example, you can Enable scanning items out of order, which will allow Drivers to scan items in any order they want as opposed to the predetermined order.

Also, in case your drivers need to scan multiple codes you can enable the Scan multiple codes option, and if they need to do it as fast as possible, enable the Continuously scan multiple codes option.

You can also reduce the number of actions the Driver needs to take in order to complete the Task successfully by enabling the option to Automatically complete task / item on successful barcode scan (if only required action). This will work only if barcode scanning is the only required action to complete the Task. If you have other POD actions Drivers need to complete alongside barcode scanning, this wouldn't work.

It's also possible to use Barcodes to let Drivers self-assign unassigned Tasks by scanning the barcode of the Task they would like added to their Route.
