Learn about Item states and how they can be influenced

Just as Tasks have their own states, the Items within a Task can also carry individual states. This allows Drivers to mark specific items as Failed when issues arise with those particular items at any point of the pickup/delivery process.

Checking and Changing Item States

The default item state is Initial, and it is assigned to all items upon their creation (manual, CSV, or API). Item states can be checked by clicking on the desired Task and then clicking on the Items section.

States can be changed either manually through eLogii, or by the Driver through Task and Item state updates from the Delivery app.

To manually update an item’s state, go to the Items section of the Task, click Edit, select the specific item you want to change, and then click the pencil icon next to it to edit its state. You can choose one of the following:

  • Failed other

  • Failed

  • Failed pickup

  • Initial

  • Pickup done

  • Done

Click Update and then click Save to apply your changes.

Configuration options for Item states

There are several configuration options to consider. These options will influence bulk item actions and states based on Task actions, so no additional adjustments are needed upon either resetting or failing a Task.

  • Reset items state when task state is reset - If the Task state is reset, the reset also applies to the items' state. This means that if users change the Task state from any state to "Created" (i.e., the default state), the Items within the Task will also have their states reset to the default "Created" state.

  • Reset items state and action when task state is reset - If the Task state is reset, the item states and related actions are also reset. This means all item states will return to their initial status, the Item POD actions will be disregarded, and any previously collected PODs will no longer be valid.

  • Fail items when task failed - If a Task failed, all items for that Task will also be automatically failed without the need to perform additional item fail actions.

eLogii also has configuration options which allow Drivers to edit Item states on completed Tasks:

  • Allow drivers to edit completed tasks - This option not only allows Drivers to alter Task-specific information and states, but they can also change Item states (i.e.,either Fail them or Complete them)

Item States and Partially Completed Tasks

Item States influence Task states, particularly Failed Item states. Having at least one of your Task Items in a failed state will alter the entire Task state, making it a Partially Completed Task. In eLogii terms, a Partially Completed Task is a Task whose Items have not been completed/delivered in their entirety. This means that if a Driver delivers an order with 5 items but cannot complete one of them, the Task will be considered Partially Completed in eLogii. Even if the Driver marks the Task as Completed Successfully in the Delivery app, the presence of a single Failed item will flag it as partially completed.
